In short
  • The QR-bill is the only Swiss payment slip since the red and orange payment slips were withdrawn.
  • Since 22 November 2025, only structured addresses (type “S”) are accepted in the QR code.
  • With a QR-IBAN, the QR reference is mandatory. With a standard IBAN, you use a creditor reference or no reference at all.
  • Invoicing as soon as delivery is validated, with the proof of delivery attached, greatly reduces disputes and late payments.

What a QR-bill is

The QR-bill is an invoice with a payment part containing a Swiss QR Code. Your customer scans it with their banking app: amount, account and reference are picked up without typing, so without errors.

What changed on 22 November 2025

According to SIX, the operator of the Swiss financial infrastructure, unstructured addresses (type “K”, where street and town are mixed on two lines) have not been accepted since 22 November 2025. The QR code may only contain structured addresses (type “S”): street, number, postcode and town in separate fields.

If your invoicing software still generates combined addresses, your invoices risk being rejected by your customers’ payment apps.

Best practice for carriers

  1. Invoice on delivery: every day you wait delays payment by as much.
  2. Attach the proof of delivery: a signed, time-stamped delivery ends most disputes.
  3. State the mission: route, date and customer reference on the invoice, so the customer’s accounts team approves it without calling you.
  4. Apply the right VAT: the standard Swiss rate has been 8.1% since 1 January 2024; international transport follows specific rules, to be checked with your accountant.
  5. Check structured addresses in your software since November 2025.
With FretCom

In FretCom, the QR-bill is issued after the proof of delivery is validated, with the issuer’s IBAN and VAT calculated by route. The signed proof is attached to the mission, and your customer sees the confirmed delivery in the same place as the invoice.
